A Toller Breeder’s Journey
I grew up on a farm where life always included a dog. They helped herd animals and, in a way, also herded and protected me as a child during my play and adventures on the land. Most of all was the comfort of a companion close at hand.
I first met a Toller at my friend’s home. Sharon was also a breeder, and I had the fortune of attending the birth of a few of her litters. The seed was planted that I too might someday be privileged to have a Toller. In August 2006, that day came when life lined up for me to add a Toller from KijabeWinds to my own life, and I brought home “KijabeWinds Surprised by Joy”, affectionately named Abbey. She instantly became my constant companion at work and at home. Abbey was also the first dog I did dog sport with as we entered the sport of agility.
In the spring of 2014, I met Jane at Watermark’s Kennel, and she became my next Toller mentor as we co-owned Watermark’s Just Add A Duck. Mattie brought me to the world of conformation, competitive obedience, hunt/working tests and breeding. She was such a great dog to learn all these aspects of dog sport and to have as my breeding foundation dam for my own kennel, SeaToSea.
Today my home includes Mattie, her daughter Rory and granddaughter Tessa. Each of these girls has their own unique personality, and I continue to learn and grow as we play in one sport or another. At the end of the day, it is my joy and pleasure to share life with the most lovely of red-headed beauties who are happy to play with me and equally spend some quiet time.
Located in Black Creek on Vancouver Island, SeaToSea Kennel is dedicated to preserving the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. With a passion for both companionship and sport, we thoughtfully breed Tollers that excel as loving family members and enthusiastic partners in activities such as agility, obedience, and hunt tests. I raise my dogs in a home environment, ensuring they are well-socialized, happy, and ready to thrive as your next best friend or sporting companion.
